Job Position: Cinematographer
Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Descriptions

1. We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Cinematographer to lead the visual storytelling of our projects.
2. The ideal candidate will have a strong artistic vision, technical expertise in camera and lighting, and the ability to collaborate with directors, production designers, and post-production teams to achieve a compelling cinematic look.

Job Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with the director to develop the visual style, tone, and mood of the project.
2. Conduct script breakdowns to plan shot compositions, lighting setups, and camera movements.
3. Scout locations and assess technical feasibility (lighting, power, camera angles).
4. Select appropriate cameras, lenses, filters, and grip equipment.
5. Prepare shot lists, storyboards, and lighting diagrams.
6. Operate cameras or supervise camera crews to achieve the desired framing and movement.
7. Design and execute lighting setups that enhance the narrative and emotional impact.
8. Ensure consistency in colour, exposure, and visual continuity across scenes.
9. Troubleshoot technical challenges related to cameras, lenses, and lighting.
10. Direct focus pullers, gaffers, and camera assistants to maintain high production standards.
11. Work closely with content creators/team to ensure the final grade aligns with the intended visual style.
12. Review edits and provide feedback on shot selection and pacing.
13. Ensure technical delivery requirements (resolution, aspect ratio, colour space) are met.

Job Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts, Cinematography, Movie Production or related field.
2. Experience: 3 years
3. A strong portfolio/showreel demonstrating previous work.
4. Membership in professional organisations (e.g., ASC, BSC) is a bonus.

Skills:

1.  Proven experience as a Cinematographer in film, TV, or high-end commercials.
2. Deep knowledge of digital cinema cameras (ARRI, RED, Sony Venice, Blackmagic) and film formats.
3. Expertise in lighting techniques (natural, artificial, mixed) and equipment (LED, HMI, tungsten).
4. Strong understanding of composition, colour theory, and visual storytelling.
5. Familiarity with movement systems (drones, gimbals, Steadicam, cranes).
6. Proficiency in pre- and post-production tools is a plus.
7. Ability to work under tight schedules and adapt to on-set challenges.
8. Strong leadership and communication skills are required to guide the crew effectively.
